Lucille Naomi Sawyer Myers

September 18, 1916 — February 21, 2017

Lucille Sawyer Meyers, 100, died Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Wheatridge Park Care Center, Liberal, KS. She was born September 18, 1916 to John and Opal (Rennik) Davis on a farm and ranch at Boyd, OK, in Beaver County in the Oklahoma Panhandle.

She attended Elementary school in the Pleasant Valley and Anthony Districts in Beaver County and Secondary school at Turpin High School where she was graduated with the class of 1935.She attended College at Northwestern State University at Alva OK, where she met and married Harry L. Sawyer.
To this union were born two children. Harry died in1984.
In 1992 she married Bill Myers. He survives.
Lucille taught school at Hitchcock, OK, from 1945 to 1947. She was employed at Panhandle Eastern Pipeline in Liberal from 1951 to 1957. She was secretary at Liberal High School from 1957 to 1976 where she retired in 1976.

Lucille was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Methodist Women’s Circle #3. She was past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star at Turpin, OK, and later a member of the Eastern Star at Guymon, OK. She was a member of the Elks Lodge #1947 of Liberal, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary 3166 of Liberal, a member of the Evergreen Garden Club, a member of the panhandle Eastern Retires Organization, a member of Seward County Association of Retired School Personal and a member of the Liberal Woman’s Club.

Survivors: Husband Bill Liberal, KS.

Daughter Dottie Sawyer Massaro, Golden, CO.

Son H.L. (Kathy) Sawyer Jr. Guymon, OK.

Sister Betty Janzen Boyd, OK.

Sister-In-Law Doris Davis Boyd,OK.

3 grandchildren, Marianne Massaro, and Nick Massaro for Golden, CO, and Kelly Sawyer of Guymon, OK. 3 great grandchildren, Alexander and Samuel Carey of Golden, Co and Sydney Massaroo f Golden, CO.

Preceded in death by her first husband Harry Sawyer, Brothers, Verne, Merle, Johnny and Harold Davis, and a sister, Delpha Dain.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Friday, February 23, 2017 at Liberal Cemetery with Rev. Keith Angelemyer officiating.
Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Panhandle Area Sheltered Workshop (PASW) in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd St. Liberal, KS, 67901.
