Joseph (Joe) Theodore Baier, 84, died, Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Pioneer Manner in Hugoton, KS.
Joe was born July 16, 1934 in Holcomb, KS. to Joseph Baier and Monica Unrien Baier.
He graduated Holcomb High School in 1952.
He served in the United States Army from February 13, 1957 and was honorably discharge, January 12, 1959.
Joe married Deloris Rinehart October 24, 1959 in Garden City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on January 7, 2007. They were married for 48 years.
He worked in an alfalfa mill as a general hand. He also worked for John Reimer as a farm hand. He was the manager of CO-OP Plains Equity.
Joe was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Plains KS.
He found pleasure in playing cards, woodworking fishing and hunting.
Joe is survived by sons Jeff Baier and wife Kim of Ulysses, KS. and Jay Baier and wife Brenda of Liberal, KS. Daughters Joetta Baier of Liberal, KS. and Jennifer Baier of Farmington NM.
Brother, Victor Baier and wife Kay of Colwich, KS. sisters Barbara Hunter and husband Gary of Salina, KS., and Anna Hoover and husband Duane of Blue Spring, MO. Sister-In-Law’s, Liz Baier of Garden City, KS, and Wilma Baier of Garden City, KS. Grand children Kelsi Sneyd, Molly Coley, Ashton Baier and Dakin Baier. Great grandchildren Wyatt Sneyd, Case Coley, Jeremey Baier, Lane Baier and Emily Baier.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, wife Deloris, Brothers, Ray and Martin. Sisters, Mary Kuhlman and Irene Patton and Brother-In-Law’s Duane Patton and Gary Hunter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Plains, KS with Reverend Ted Skalsky celebrating.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 26th at Brenneman Funeral Home, Liberal. KS.
Rosary will be 6:00 pm, Tuesday, March 26th at the church.
Burial will be in Kismet cemetery. Military Honors will be by the Liberal American Legion Post # 80.
